The barnEdward Gal and Nicole Werner established Dressuurstal Werner/Gal in 1996. They have been based at Resim Dressage in Harskamp now for several years, where Edward and Nicole have use of a large indoor and outdoor arena as well as other amenities, including a covered round pen, turn-out paddocks, and a covered horse exerciser. The facility was recently renovated, and now Edward and Nicole have their own lounge. They also enjoy other improvements including a new tackroom and a common area with four grooming stalls, two heat lamp stations, and two wash racks.
Edward is training his horses during the day and he is teaching 2 or 3 hours a day. Nicole is managing the barn and makes all the appointments for Edward and the planning of competitions and clinics. She is teaching in the afternoon. In the morning Edward and Nicole train together, the horses who need extra attention. For example the horses who have a competition soon. Resim Dressage is also the site of an approved EU certified A.I. station, which allows semen to be collected from the approved stallions right on the premises. Collected semen is processed on-site and then shipped to breeders.
Edward, of course, has assistants who help him with the horses. His staff includes four regular employees and several working students, who help with everything around the barn, such as cleaning stalls, caring for the horses, lunging, and riding the young horses.
Edward usually rides seven or eight horses a day. Edward and Nicole spend mornings together training the horses. Nicole coaches Edward on horses needing extra attention, for example, those going to a show, clinic, or exhibition. Starting at noon, Nicole teaches students who travel to Harskamp to train with her. In addition, Nicole manages the barn and handles everything from scheduling vet and farrier appointments to planning shows to managing the staff. Edward spends most of his day training his horses and teaching several students.
